There’s something special about being invited to a live music event. The kind where you can actually feel the vocals in your chest and see the emotion on people’s faces. Sunday nights performance had exactly that energy. Intimate, warm, and full of personality. I went along to capture the atmosphere, the people, and the special moments that capture the warmth and fun of this Christmas Cabaret.
This wasn’t a huge stage production or a big dance show like usual, it turned out to be something better: a night of singers pouring their hearts out in front of a close crowd in an intimate setting, The Fitzgerald, located in Manchester's Northern Quarter.
MMJazz for those who may not know are a dance duo; choreographers and professional dance twins who are based in Manchester and have been in the industry and running MMJazz (dance classes and training) for over ten years. Specialising in Jazz, Melissa and Martina are genuinely two of the warmest and most talented people I know and together with the amazing performers, created a warm and welcoming evening of musical medleys and Christmas classics.
The Performers
Each performer brought their own vibe. Powerhouse vocals, soft emotional moments, and everything in between. It’s always a privilege to photograph people doing what they love and they were amazing.

Behind the Scenes
One of my favourite parts of any performance night is the behind-the-scenes energy. The rehearsals, the warm-ups, the mirror checks, outfits being adjusted, and the calm before the spotlight hits. There was a moment in the dressing area — dim lighting, an amazing singer (Ella G. who's voice will literally transport you to another time) doing the final touch-ups — and it became one of my favourite shots of the night. A real glimpse into the world the audience never sees.

The Atmosphere
Upstairs at The Fitzgerald had this cosy closeness that made the whole night feel personal (and the staff were lovely). Photographing in that kind of environment can be a challenge, but it’s also where the mood becomes something you can actually feel in the images.

Final Thoughts
MMJazz have an natural talent of creating a positive and supportive atmosphere. Before and after shows thanking everyone from performers to crew, staff at the venue and everyone feels appreciated in creating this special evening. A room full of soul, spotlight, christmas sparkle and real talent. I’m grateful I got to capture it.
